Review Movie Overlord Campaign - A new style of undead movie

Preparing for the Christmas season, a series of funny comedies to the cinema, Operation Overlord is becoming a hot phenomenon for the box office this week. Operation Overlord is a horror movie, but it has a very strange setting and setting that is appreciated by many critics. With the Cinema Corner reviewing the movie Overlord Campaign, before the positive reviews of critics, should we go to the cinema to enjoy this horror movie?

A little more information about the film, Operation Overlord is hosted by a relatively new director in the horror film Julius Avery, he has been known for quite a few movies like "Son of a Gun" (2014) or "Jerrycan". (2008). Although there are few films, each of his films has its own characteristics and makes a good impression on film critics. Next is the movie review of Operation Overlord.

The movie Overlord Campaign takes place during World War II. The film opens when a group of US soldiers enters a Nazi-occupied village to perform an important task. They felt strange things happening and began to investigate. But the more they learn, the more truths the soldiers discover, the more dreadful they find in the Nazi "millennial army" experiment. Now, not only are they trying to escape, the group of soldiers must perform the task of destroying this terrible secret.

With the theme of the undead, the Operation Overlord is set in a rather strange war for both horror moviegoers. The unique setting with a good horror effect is a big plus for the movie.

The horror element in the film is handled by director Julius Avery just enough, creating the necessary scare. The combination of unexpected details and sound effects make even the hardest fans startled. At least 4 times in the movie, the audience will have a heart attack because of these jumpscare phases. In particular, Operation Overlord is a horror movie with a lot of bloody violence. And of course, it is still cropped after censorship like some other horror movies (the cut is not much and acceptable).

The film's outcome can be quite disappointing because the resolution is quite simple. Compared to the dramatic scenes and knots created in the middle of the film, the ending seems a bit exhausting. In terms of details, some segments are not handled well, but overall, the film creates a connection and gradually increases the level of drama to ensure the most demanding audience.

In addition to the plus points, Operation Overlord still had a few small hotels that were not reasonable. Specifically, the male protagonist "unreasonably confident" when he stormed into the enemy base, talking freely as a place without people. Or the base of the Nazis but was loosely guarded, broke into but found no guards to intervene. And a fairly common detail in the horror movies is that people find something frightening, they must go to "see hand to hand" and then run away.

Regarding the roles, the male lead Ed Boyce is played by Jovan Adepo with a face always curious and scared to do well in this movie. Ed Boyce was a soldier with an honest, gentle nature who willingly suffered to save others. A character written by the scriptwriters very well and colorful. Jovan Adepo has an easy-going face and a talking gaze so it is easy and natural to play Ed Boyce.

Another prominent figure in the film is the Nazi officer, Wafner, played by Pilou Asbæk. Pilou Asbæk successfully plays an evil Nazi, cunning and vile in both action scenes and psychological developments. A role with a lot of acting helps Pilou show off his immersive acting talent.

The supporting cast is mostly new faces but still round the shoulders, showing the characteristics for each character's personality.

The visual and audio parts of Operation Overlord are elaborate and well done. The film has a bluish-gray tone to create a dark and cold appearance. As a low-budget film, the context is not elaborate, offset the costumes and shapes the characters very well. Special effects for the undead of the "army of a thousand years" is handled very real, gore scene is also quite horrible.

The sound in movies is well invested with professional surround sound effects. Sounds like: echoes, screams or whispers all make it feel like the character is sitting right next to you, causing you to chill many times.

Judging from Operation Overlord film is an acceptable B-grade movie. The film is not really excellent, but every segment of the film is well processed to create a scary effect to satisfy fans of horror movies. In a series of family films that celebrate Christmas, Overlord Campaign is a wind-swapping option for action thriller fans.
